Technology Shapes the Local Economy
The Price Corridor along Loop 101 is home to chip plants, data centers and large offices. Around them grew machine shops, staffing firms, IT service providers, commercial cleaners and other companies that supply that work.
Those suppliers can attract strategic buyers and private equity groups, often from out of state. They also face one specific question from every buyer: how much of your revenue comes from one or two big clients?
Customer Concentration Is the Big Issue
A supplier with one major technology client can be profitable and still hard to sell. If a single customer is more than about 15 to 20% of revenue, buyers usually lower their offer or tie part of it to that client staying. Contracts with clear terms help.
Our page on how buyers price a small business explains how concentration changes a multiple.
Neighborhood Businesses Too
Most Chandler sales are not technology deals. Dental offices, physical therapy clinics, restaurants in downtown Chandler, auto repair shops and home service companies change hands all the time. Buyers for these tend to be local, often using an SBA loan.
Solar installers and commercial roofers also do well here. See selling a solar installation company for that market.
Private Equity Interest
Companies with larger profits, often around $750,000 or more of EBITDA, can draw private equity groups. Those buyers often want the owner to stay for a transition and may pay part of the price later. That can still beat a simpler offer, depending on terms.
Buyers Look for a Team
- A second in command who knows the major accounts
- Documented processes, especially for technical work
- Staff who have been with you through more than one owner's vacation
- Financials that tie to tax returns without explanations
Read preparing your company for sale for ways to build that before you list.
Arizona and Maricopa Filings
Chandler companies report transaction privilege tax through the state and business equipment to the Maricopa County Assessor.
The buyer will expect tax clearance before releasing all of the price. Start with Arizona TPT successor liability when you sell a business.
